Welcome to Inner Realms Journey (IRJ). IRJ, standing at the intersection of imaginative storytelling and evidence-based mindfulness practices, offers a unique gamified approach to mental health and well-being in clinical settings. This guide delves into the program’s structure, its therapeutic potential, and the facilitator training process.

How Does Inner Realms Journey Work?

Inner Realms Journey is a fantasy-themed audio-guided meditation experience that plays like a game (no previous experience needed!) We’ve combined the fun of developing a character, adventuring to different fantasy Realms, and storytelling with easy and powerful meditation techniques. By unlocking the power of imagination, users will enjoy an epic, heroic journey and receive all of the mental, emotional, and physical benefits of meditation.

Our immersive meditations use narration, voice actors, cinematic soundscapes, and an expanding storyline to take users on a majikal journey across the Realms. Through the adventure, participants will learn how to harness Mana, discover Allies and Majikal Treasures, develop their Sanctuary, and create their heroic Avatar character.

Facilitators receive in-depth training encompassing a selection of meditation journeys in interactive sessions. This ensures a thorough understanding and effective implementation in clinical settings.

Practical Application:

The training is designed to be flexible, accommodating both individual and group settings. This versatility makes it an ideal tool for various applications, including clinical therapy, therapeutic interventions, recreational activities, and educational purposes. It’s particularly beneficial as a recreational option for activity departments, providing a balance of mental engagement and physical relaxation with minimal screentime. This approach helps maintain a positive and active mindset while offering a restful experience for the body.

Therapeutic Potential and Unique Aspects

  • Clinical Applications: IRJ’s 12-week (with expansion options) program incorporates techniques such as mindfulness, breath awareness, body scans, guided visualization, reframing, and grounding, targeting various therapeutic goals.
  • Unique Flexibility: Accessible anywhere with headphones and a device with internet access, IRJ is ideal for patients with limited mobility. Its ease of use allows it to be administered by the patient or unlicensed staff or caregivers, easing the clinical staff’s workload.
  • Nominal Screen Time: The website is used to access audio content and also keeps track of basic user experience (points, completed journeys, etc.). Users are NOT watching videos or computer animations. The meditations are meant to be closed eyes, engaging, and developing cognitive function. We have found children enjoy drawing while listening, which is also a positive way to engage.

  • Outline: In each training session, participants will listen to 1-2 meditations and complete relevant creative tasks. Participants will also be trained in theory and practical application is use of the program in their field.
  • Practical Application: The program is adaptable for one-on-one sessions, small groups, or larger settings, both online and in person. It caters to a wide audience, including adults and children aged 7+.
  • Digital Assets for Practitioners: Therapists receive an eBook journal for tracking experiences and insights, a 12-module activity curriculum that corresponds to the included initial 12-part series of meditations, and bonus meditations.
